How to model Barista FIRE
Barista FIRE uses the same math as Coast FIRE, with one tweak: part-time income covers part of your spending, so you only need your investments to fund the gap. Enter your annual spending minus expected part-time income as the spending figure. A smaller funded amount means a smaller number - and an earlier point where you can stop saving and downshift to part-time work.
Example: $50,000/year spending, $20,000 expected from a part-time job -> enter $30,000. The calculator shows the invested amount at which your portfolio coasts to full retirement on its own.
